w210 OM606 engine number location?
 

Searched the posts, searched the engine, but I cannot seem to find the engine number on my 97 E300D. The manual says right side under head. Some posts refer to an engine plate. Some MB references say left side front under head. For those who would suggest that I check my VIN card, I have that and the correct engine number. I'm trying to confirm on this USED car that the engine is the original. The block has some large cast numbers on the lower right rear, above the oil pan, but these appear like a block part number. Looking for exact location by someone that actually saw the number. Pix? Is the removal of the IM or EM necessary? Thanks!
