Oh yes we do! We usually make up all kinds of lies to keep you Northerners up North!

125 F days, 320+ days of sunshine a year, venomous lizards and snakes the size of Buicks, cacti which if you lean against will suck all your body fluids and leave an empty shell, the Chupacabra roaming the city streets at night, enormous packs of ravenous coyotes, Republicans...; it's sheer Hades I'm tellin' ya!

Holy Cow man! Those seats look incredible! I actually like the cup holder. Keeps your "sweaty drinks' off the zebrano.

That is a nice one. Was the car advertised or did you just "run across it" and make an offer? Inquiring minds would like to know...

Lets see under the hood.

I just happened across it. I check craigslist periodically for parts or deals...I just happened to search for Mercedes that day and found his post about 20 minutes after he put it up for sale. I went and looked at it the next day. He was asking for $1000, but I offered him $800 and he took it. He was a pretty cool guy who really loved the car, but it was a little more than he could handle. He was happy that a Mercedes enthusiast was buying it.

Funny side story....after the deal was done, and money was exchanged...his son..maybe 4 or 5, was really upset that the car was leaving (daddy's big yellow car). We were standing in his driveway talking and I noticed his son fidgeting around the front of the car....next thing I heard was a loud SNAP...followed by a kid crying. We rushed over and the kid had ripped the hood ornament right off the car. I really didn't know what to say, but it was obvious it really scared the kid and he was probably more upset than I was. He broke the ornament at the mount, so there was no fixing it. They offered to buy me a new one, but I felt so bad for the kid, and felt I got a good deal on the car...I just handed the hood ornament to the kid and told him to keep it...which made him very happy. I'm sure it's something he will remember for the rest of his life, so I wanted him to have a memento of it. Of course as soon as I got home, I ordered a new one from Ebay...just didn't seem right driving around without the star.

I'll post some engine pics soon, it's very dirty due to a valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket leak, but I plan on cleaning that up this weekend.

I wonder if "vanilla pudding" sounds better in German?

Nice!

I think you already hit on the name. VANILLA - you can call her 'Nilla for short

Since the interior is the color of a Nilla wafer (little round crispy vanilla cookies for all you northerners) that is a perfect fit too!

I agree, the kid will never forget that moment.
Perhaps someday, it will cause him to buy an old Mercedes.....

Great response.

Nice! It seems to me that color is more rare in the w116, and I like it.

How about the name....Cosby

You know....the pudding reference...Thanks for sharing....great car and great story, too.
