Under the first aid kit, remove the two screws, slide it towards the front of the car and lift up. Right there it is.

You could always throw in some startron, it will begin to clear up all the gunk thats stuck on your sender, but removing the sender isn't all that hard. You'll need a 46mm (or 1 13/16") socket or a good pair of channel locks.

My 81 240 guage gets to 1/4 aqnd I am out of fuel also even after removing and cleaning the sending unit.
I think my tank vent may be plugged and so I get enough vacuum buildup that at a 1/4 tank the fuel cannot flow.
I haven't tried removing my fuel cap to release the vacuum but will do that on this next tank of fuel

Remove and clean the screen in the bottom of the tank. Drain the tank as much as you can and be prepared for some spillage.
