Come on over to TDIClub to ask this question

As others have noted it's a fine car, though in my opinion the jury is still out on the long term reliability of the 6 speed DSG autobox. Dont forget this trans needs ~$200 in fluid changed every 40,000 miles because of the wet clutches.

seems silly to have an automatic in an economy car unless you lack a left leg or have a knee so bad it won't work the clutch.

Ya. The DSG is kind of interesting to drive though. On the highway it's great but in the city it's kind of like my mom using the clutch... not quite smooth, not always in the right gear. Not that it's bad to drive, but you can really there's no torque converter.
