Diesel & Latex . . .
Not so good a combination!
Today I was doing a PM service on a bus at work (school) and as I spun off the first fuel filter, of course diesel leaked out . . . I did not worry as I had on some latex gloves . . . as I was putting on the new filter, I noticed that the gloves were s t r e t c h i n g I quickly pulled them off, but not before they failed . . . Latex is not the best thing to make gloves out of for working around diesel! Tomorrow I have another bus to do, and I will bring my Nitrile gloves, I know they hold up to gasoline . . . They should do fine with diesel I have some vinyl gloves that I used when I had a bakery, they work great using the cleaning agent for our printing press, I can try them on the diesel too . . . Don't buy latex to work with diesel, beside they have a nasty odor! (to me anyways!) |

nitrile seems to work pretty well for me.
The hose clamps seems to come after me when I put them on though. |

Nitrile is the only way to go.

try the BLACK MAMMA nitrile gloves.
MUCH more durable than the thin blue ones... latex on the other hand is for... a much more friendly lubricant.

Well that is what the school had (where I work) so that is what I used, today, I had no problems with either the nitrile, or vinyl, both held up great! One more bus done!

The Nitril do hold up well for most things on the car. Brake cleaner will eat them up real fast.
I usually buy the harbor freight blue nitril when they are on sale. usually $7.99 for a box of 100. I have had them rip putting them on right out of the box. I did try the black Nitril one time, but at $12.99 a box, the blue are just fine. I didn`t see that they were really that much better for the added price. there are times I remove them, turn them inside out to dry. but have trouble getting them back on. I keep a small baby powder shaker bottle in my tool box to use on my hands. then they go right on. Sat I was at Costco picking up a few things, and they have the Nitril gloves in a 2 pack for $14.99, 150 gloves per box. Like getting one box for free. It is listed on the box as Exam gloves, guess it should work as Iam examining the under side of the vehicle. we`ll see. Charlie

I got my case of 1000 (10 boxes of 100) for $26 on ebay . . . they do come in different thickness lik 4 mil - 9 mil . . .
my problem is my hands get so sweaty (today 100 in the shade) that when I lift my hand up, sweat drips out I also use them for printing . . . |

The plus side of having your hands sweat, is they come out clean.

Back when I worked in the truck repair shop, there was a young girl that went to church with us, and she always called me "the man with the dirty hands"
Ever since I had my bread bakery, I have used gloves, I'm sure you would not want to buy bread from me with my oil imbeded "dirty" hands! |

I use blue nitrile gloves. I always end up ripping the tip of a finger or two though. I don't like working on the car with long sleeves either, so my arms can get pretty dirty between the t-shirt sleeves and gloves (mechanic's tan).
