Would you guys also share information about the motor oil you use and how often you change it?

Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 synthetic (basically same as Delvac 1) every 9-10,000 miles or so. I did an oil analysis on the 92 after 7500 miles and the soot was at only 0.8%!

293K on '91, with 38.4 mpg tops, with normal 30-31 city/highway driving. I use Shell Rotella 5w-40 syn or Mobil 1 5w-40 at 7,500 miles.

578 400km, so some 359 400mi. Bought it second hand though, so I haven't done them all myself. Full service records throughout the life, MB Dealer service only until 414 000km.

I have done about 30 000km on WVO.

Bye,

I've never gotten higher than 28.7 mpg on mine.

What am I doing wrong?

This is almost exclusively highway driving as well, though, it is in a very windy part of the world.

247K - sitting on jackstands right now while I save the $ for a vacuum pump

37 MPG highway (avg 70 MPH) with 2 blown injectors (before I pulled and rebuilt the head) - not sure what the mileage will be when I get her cranked - I will post as soon as I know.

I've been beaten!

1987 190D 2.5 Turbo 295,000 miles on original not rebuilt motor, trans, turbo - everything.

I get from 27.6 to 45mpg c/d depending on conditions.

oil, and change intervals;
Rotella Synthetic 15w40 or Valvolie synthetic 15w40
only MB genuine filters

3,100 mile intervals.

I drive hard too.

+1, except I do mine ever 4200 or so. I do run WVO blends, so I change it a little more frequently than normal.

I figure its cheap insurance. In that 4200 mile span, the engine consumes no oil whatsoever.
