Vac was good but car was still not shutting off...

I used a spare metal ring that goes on the shutoff valve from another IP as a spacer. Car shuts off instantly now.

pictures, please.

Are you suggesting that slop in the linkage should be considered a common culprit?

This would be for internal issues, my vac element was not pulling far enough to cut fuel completely.

is it due to an aging diaphragm, or worn linkage elements?

I have noticed this slow shutdown symptom on other cars, mine certainly isn't perfect. But if its a simple fix like that... I'll keep that on my JY 'To Do' list.

clever.

thanks

Neither, I tested it against another one I had and both acted the same. I believe the problem is that my adjustment of fuel quantity was still allowing fuel flow, the linkage had at least another 1/8" or so of play.

I meant the linkage of the shutoff valve itself, inside the IP. Doesn't that arm lead somewhere on the 'control rod'?
