Some folks get their undies in a bunch if you don't use the "proper" terminology.
I find it sad when folks who are trying to ask a question get raked over the coals because they are not as familiar with some terms and that some others think that is blasphemy.
Weren't you born knowing this? Come on people.

I've actually never done any of this service, so I'm learning as I go along. I've driven the car a couple of thousand miles without incident, but
I'll definitely re-install an inline filter as per the specs in this thread.

So what is the size of that odd bolt on top of the canister fuel filter? I thought it was 19mm, but it's an odd one.

Looks like I'll need the proper copper washers as well. They weren't in the box along with the Bosch filter.

Again, thanks. So much to learn here.....
That's a 24mm bolt on top. If you're careful you can use a pair of channel locks. It's similar to a spin on oil filter, snug it up till it doesn't leak. Some have a washer, some don't. I have successfully used a composite gasket from the hardware store. See pic.
Once you get that bolt out, you'll note an "O" ring, if it's hard, you'll need to replace it.

Some supply houses used to include that washer. If you click on the "Buy Parts" button above and don't find what you need, ask Phil, you can e-mail him, or call.

It's difficult to impossible to know if responders to terminology are joking or not, read the response. Is there a snicker emote? How are newer posters to know this?

As wonderful as these cars are, rubber components wear out, imagine that. In some cases SAE parts (FUEL) lines, will work.

That zip-tie holding the supply hose to the cigar hose doesn't look stock either.

Look, things like that are merely light hearted forum banter, and can hardly be confused with "getting all bent out of shape".
Determining context can be a wonderful thing.......

Good thing that "gas" line didn't "T" off in another direction......

There must be at least two different designs of fuel canister filter. My 83 never had a copper washer. If it doesn't seal, a new o-ring solves the problem.
