Clutch soft, master or slave?

Which is which and how to tell?

A little more info please. You mean the new clutch doesn't feel like it has enough resistance to your foot? Is it grinding?

Sorry, haven't had more than a few hours of consecutive sleep here.

So for a while my clutch pedal has been going to the floor occasionally when under light pressure. Now I am having to double clutch. I think part of the problem is that some tranny fluid came out when I was swapping the engine out of my car. The other part is that clearly the clutch is not disengaging fully.

I have decided to test it I am going to put a bolt on the master cylinder and see if the pedal still goes down.

Well happy "father's day" It gets better

I would re bleed the system because if nether the slave or master are leaking I dont know how too tell which is at fault. The ones that I have replaced have leaked. I'm guessing bleeding will do it. If not I would start with the slave since is cheaper and easier too do.

Well I rebled the system which helped but with light pressure the pedal still sinks to the floor. I also changed out the tranny fluid which was near black with a tint of red.

Master is on the firewall and has the reservoir, slave is on the bellhousing.

Your last post stated that the pedal sinks to the floor with light pressure.
This symptom combined with no apparent leaks, indicates that the master is leaking internally and the fluid is returning to the reservoir.

Sounds about right. I have a spare master I will see how hard it is to swap out.

we are talking two different "masters" here. the clutch master is above the pedals and is fed from the brake master on the firewall. If your bleed job was good then your problem is in the "clutch" master or the clutch slave, not in the "brake' master cylinder, unless its not feeding the clutch master which is unlikly if the aft half of the reservor is full. Sorry for the delay, I'm on a road trip and using my wifes Mac #$$%^^%

This ended up being the rubber hose inbetween the clutch slave and master. Air was seeping in and fluid seeping out.

So you traced "juice" running down the hard line, back to the hose, thats an easier fix than it coulda been

That rubber hose is attached to the hard line that goes over the transmission to the slave.
That is a dealer item, I just bought one in March. think it was about $70.00. it is a straight piece of tube that has to be hand bent to fit. use the old one as a template.

Warm the tube some, and use your two thumbs to form the bends. go slow and it won`t kink.
I tried to use a tubing bender, but seemed to want to kink.
