76 240D Bosch Fast Glow Kit Install question

I'm installing the Bosch FGK2 kit on my 76 240D. While looking online, I don't find a reference to the glow plug relay on the MB's with the gorilla knob.

When installing this kit on the earlier models with the gorilla knob, is the relay necessary? Is there even a glow plug relay on these vehicles, and, if so, where is it located? I can find some relays that look similar to a glow plug relay, but I'm not sure which it is.

The Bosch FGK2 includes:
Bosch Duraterm Glow plugs p/n 0 250 201 044
Bosch Relay 0 281 003 005
Wiring harness
The kit p/n is either FGK2 or 0 250 201 955

Thanks for the help.

There is no timer relay on the cars with the starting knob.

You don't need a kit for the gorilla knob arrangement. Just replace the plugs, and instead of using the original resistor wires/insulators to connect one plug to the next, make some jumpers with eye connectors to connect one plug to the next. Connect the power to the first plug and make sure you leave the old ground wire disconnected, the new plugs are grounded through their bodies.

glow controller wires

Hello I bought the bosch fast glow kit with 4 plugs and the controller it came with the wiring harness which plugs into the controller it has 4 wires
red /brown /black/ green . I need to know what each wire is used for.
which wire activates controller,
I own a old 1960 international b275 diesel tractor and the bosch glow plugs will work in the tractor but I don't know how to hook up these 4 wires, I don't want to short anything out.
are there any pics of wiring diagrams?
Thanks for the help
Tim

Instead of what you plan to do you might consider what I did with my Volvo Diesel when the Glow Plug Relay Went out.
I used a common Starter Solenoid with a push button switch on the Dash Board.
You push the button and hold it down to give juice to the Glow Plugs. When you think you have glowed long enough you release the button and Start your Engine.
Red Wires at the top are the (+) Battery wires.
The Red wire at the bottom is the Wire going to the Glow Plugs. When that wire main gets closer to the Glow Plugs I ran a separate wire to each
Glow Plug (I have 6).
There are 2 skinny green wires in the Photo. One is connected to that (+) terminal at the top of the pic and runs to the Switch on the Dash.
The Green wire is the on coming back from the Dash Switch and attaches to terminal "S" on the Solenoid.
I have had zero problems with this set-up. The only thing it lacks is there is no Fuse anywhere on it; but that can be easily added.

I bought a new solenoid to do this but I could have gotton one at a Junk Yard for around $3.
