W124 A/C vent temps, these normal?

Hey guys. Did some testing today in my 93 300D.

Conditions: 87 degrees, slightly humid, sunny. Temp probe in center vent.

@ 60MPH with fan speed on low : 45-49 cycling
@ 60MPH with fan speed on high: 51-53

@ idle with fan speed on low : 47-51 cycling
@ idle with fan speed on high: 64

My initial complaint was that in heavy stop and go traffic, the temp rises as the car stops, annoyingly. I had my mechanic add a little freon (factory R134A) to it. The drier sight glass revealed very little bubbles after he did this. There was still some slight bubbles here and there, but he said if he added anymore the pressure could go to high and cause damage. My aux fans work fine when the A/C is on.

I know, from my vast history of MB, that there A/C systems leave alot to be desired. I also know there compressors arent that efficient at idle. Should I just live with it? I replaced the evap last year, along with the drier. Its ICE cold when driving. Just city driving when really hot out kinda sux.

Thoughts, opinions?

Thanks.

Those temps aren't low enough, possibly due to the use of R134 (who did the conversion?). My '87 W124 on R12 got down to about 39-40F in the shop the last time I had it serviced. It was not as hot as your weather, though.

There was no conversion. It came from the factory with r134. I believe it was the first year. My 92 400E also came from the factory with R134 as well. However, my mechanics 92 300D came with R12.

Maybe I should convert it to R12 haha.

Ah, my bad. I should have asked, in your first post, which of your cars were you talking about?
