I agree that FI should be more civilized and that he acts childish on the boards from time to time. I keep telling him he doesn't know when to let dogs lie. In his defense he works third shift, I think any of us would be more prone to reaction with that kind of life style.
He is a good guy at heart and I think everyone should just learn to let live. Sometimes rules are just made to be broken, see my infraction : http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/249305-important-peachparts-domain-name-change-all-members-read-post2162910.html#post2162910 To me an insult is untruth. If I say someone is an idiot and his IQ is less than his shoe size, am I insulting him or am I simply calling a spade a spade? Sure I broke the rules and it felt good doing so. Got the thread locked (which it should have been before I had a chance to break the law).

I agree that he is knowledgable about many things, but he does have a 'tude a lot of the time and some of his logic was flawed (in my humble opinion). I never went whining, but I'm not sorry to see him go... at least for a little bit.

You've all had an interesting discussion regarding FI. There are clearly two distinct camps:
1) Those that respect FI's knowledge and experience and don't care about his attitude. If you don't like it, GFY. 2) Those that are of the opinion that FI is overbearing and sees the world in black and white. He's not interested in any discussion whatsoever...........either it's his way or the highway. The entire affair with FI gives me difficulties. Clearly a very smart guy that has opinions on just about everything. Unfortunately, an automobile is a very complicated piece of machinery and the variables that affect any given problem are many. Change any one of those variables and the outcome may be completely different. In FI's case, he sees one set of variables and refuses to believe that any other variables exist...........therefore his conclusion must be valid, by definition. Those that have been wrenching for 30 years realize that, if they can bat .750. they are doing fantastically well. The vehicle presents many different possibilities for a poor diagnosis and result, if one is not very methodical and open-minded. The title of this forum is "Diesel Discussion". Accordingly, it is recognized that folks wish to discuss their issue with many different members and select the best approach for their specific issues. When a member decides that he is the almighty answer to every single problem presented to the board, the end result is less than desirable. FI will be permitted to return on a very short leash. Unless the behavior changes with some understanding that nobody knows it all, the hiatus will be resumed.........possibly indefinitely. |
