I agree that FI should be more civilized and that he acts childish on the boards from time to time. I keep telling him he doesn't know when to let dogs lie. In his defense he works third shift, I think any of us would be more prone to reaction with that kind of life style.

He is a good guy at heart and I think everyone should just learn to let live.

Sometimes rules are just made to be broken, see my infraction :

To me an insult is untruth. If I say someone is an idiot and his IQ is less than his shoe size, am I insulting him or am I simply calling a spade a spade?

Sure I broke the rules and it felt good doing so. Got the thread locked (which it should have been before I had a chance to break the law).

I agree with your justification for it being an insult directed at you, from reading the LINKED post.

Good point.

as far as stuff with brian goes, i've been here less than a year but i've found a lot of posts where forced would write something short and to the point and brian would post a couple down and say the same thing in a different, maybe less brusk manner, and comment on forced's attitude, behavior, or technical advice. then they would argue about symantics. this would probably annoy me too.

and you're right about goatman, he came into some conversation, started an arguement with forced who i guess knows him from somewhere else, and went whining and crying to get him banned. it worked, and now he's gloating about it (see post #26 and #28). and for your info concerning post #28, i'll ask forced when i have turbo questions. check his backlog of posts goatboy, they speak for themselves.

still, the point for me is that you have to be very careful how you word things here on peach parts forum, because you never know who here is soooo sensitive that they'll actually tattle on you for being curt, direct, just a little grumpy, or have a controversial opinion on any given subject, on or off mercedes topics. again, most people i've seen here get offended by forced think they have more knowledge when they don't, or think that because forced has a "bad attitude" then he can't be taken seriously and nit-pick a fight with him. as stated, if he were to be permanently banned, it would be devestating to those of use newbies who use the seach function all the time and find forced waiting there with the answer.

for now, if you need some answers, just stop by winmutts site for forced.

this seems long but i've wanted to comment on this for while, i can never see why so many people get so upset over this guys style. i can't defend the holocaust hair thing that i read too, but that doesn't mean i'm gonna ban him and argue with him every chance i get.
100% agree.

I agree that he is knowledgable about many things, but he does have a 'tude a lot of the time and some of his logic was flawed (in my humble opinion). I never went whining, but I'm not sorry to see him go... at least for a little bit.

You've all had an interesting discussion regarding FI. There are clearly two distinct camps:

1) Those that respect FI's knowledge and experience and don't care about his attitude. If you don't like it, GFY.

2) Those that are of the opinion that FI is overbearing and sees the world in black and white. He's not interested in any discussion whatsoever...........either it's his way or the highway.

The entire affair with FI gives me difficulties. Clearly a very smart guy that has opinions on just about everything. Unfortunately, an automobile is a very complicated piece of machinery and the variables that affect any given problem are many. Change any one of those variables and the outcome may be completely different.

In FI's case, he sees one set of variables and refuses to believe that any other variables exist...........therefore his conclusion must be valid, by definition.

Those that have been wrenching for 30 years realize that, if they can bat .750. they are doing fantastically well. The vehicle presents many different possibilities for a poor diagnosis and result, if one is not very methodical and open-minded.

The title of this forum is "Diesel Discussion". Accordingly, it is recognized that folks wish to discuss their issue with many different members and select the best approach for their specific issues. When a member decides that he is the almighty answer to every single problem presented to the board, the end result is less than desirable.

FI will be permitted to return on a very short leash. Unless the behavior changes with some understanding that nobody knows it all, the hiatus will be resumed.........possibly indefinitely.
