Is my vacuum pump on it's way out??

I'm on a 3000 plus miles roadtrip with my new 190d. Whenever I'm not on the gas right before stepping on the brakes they are pretty hard to stop. Also to turn off the engine I have to give it some gas sometimes and when shifting it takes alot longer for the rpm to go back to idle when I clutch.

If it is the pump.. what's the worse that could happen??

Vacuum pump

engine turn off could also be a leaky vac. line. Had a leak in the smaller tube on top of vac. pump. Can sell you a used vac. pump with new gasket in working
condition for $20.00 plus postage, bought it in as a spare years ago . Bearing moves smoothly. Cheers

If the ball bearings fall in the wrong place, good bye engine. Is it making any noise? I would check for a vacuum leak first.

Stop giving it gas, it won't like it.

The 190s don't have a separate pump for the door locks? Much like the 124s.

The check valve located in the nipple on the top of the pump is known to fail and block airflow into the pump. The symptoms are very similar to a pump failure.

I don't notice any noise coming from them pump, hopefully it's just a vacuum leak. I guess i'll take it easy on the way back.. no more 110mph for now.

door locks utilize an electric vac pump behind the back seat. if the engine vac pump has over 150K on it and it is original, change it regardless of performance. You can tell an original unmistakeably by the lack of screws in the front cover (just crimped) Even if it has screws it could be the old design and should be replaced with the re-engineered pump. It will be the best $300 you ever spent. (I just did it myself)

old design(L) new design(R)

I just did mine today. It took just under an hour, with me dragging my feet. Very Very easy job.... IF you have had the fan off before. The first time I removed the fan it was a beast. Bolt come right out this time.

Old pump "looked" fine but it was original with 14xxxx miles. The only thing I notice is my car stops with authority now. Before when you stopped hard it seemed to loose vacuum. Now maybe I can finally see if those ABS work.

I still have a noise I was hopping to lose with a new pump. I think it is a bad injector.

can you show me a pic of the old style vs the new one. I actually went downstairs at 1.30am with a flashlight to look at it, but can't tell for sure. It does look like it might be leaking a little.
My car has 250K and the odometer just went bad.
