Personality
Man do these MB diesels have a personality all their own. I'm still getting to know both of mine having owned them for about 6 months each.
1. '84 300D-T ..... loves to run so much it won't shut off. After tinkering with it I found the vacuum problem but did not realize that it was just trying to add an option for me. So when I want to turn it off I push down the driver's side lock. But when I want to leave it running, I simply leave the lock up and remove the key.....why? cf #2..... 2. '85 300TD ..... enjoyed being the second in the family so much that it is gradually changing like its older brother. My wife forgot which key was which and boy was I surprised to discover that one key works for both cars. It has changed so drastically that the original key for the 85 won't work now in either car. This is handy however as I can remove the key from the 84 while running and jockey them around in the driveway (both running and only one key). 3. Between the 9 door locks (4 in the sedan and 5 in the wagon), different ones take turns working and not working on a daily basis. I figure they're trying to tell me something but haven't figured it out yet. personality..... don |
Laughing out loud
Have you figured out their message yet? LOL
MB diesel is an addiction, not a hobby. |
Take out the "MB" part and you'll still have it right :D :D :D
I've been hooked since I was 14, and I steadfastly refuse therapy  |

With the internal engine noises my TD makes, I really think it's a bit of a POS. But I can't seem to get the idea of it out of my mind. This is an addiction. I can spot them across a field, parking lot, highway, or out my window! I never noticed them until I got the bug. Now I can't get them out of my eyes (and mind)! :D |
I am proud to say I have a diesel addiction problem. I'll be sitting in school, and if I see a 300D or 300SD, or any W126 pass by, I lose attention, and stare out of the window. I also do the same with Jettas to see if they say TDI on the back, and I'll do the same with pickups, buses, and other diesels.

fist time I bought my car, I was hooked!
The raw power, the comfort, and the near fact that I own one is what keeps me happy :D |
After having diesel mercedes for over thirty years i have learned to hear their wants, needs and desires, and yes each one has it's own needs. Every one i see says buy me.

I'll say it again: my two 617-engined 123s area as different as night and day. Of course, they'll REALLY be different in not-so-distant future <GRIN>.
