What are European water bumpers?
Saw a 1968 220d for sale that has "European water bumpers". What the hell are they? Anyone ever heard of them?--Scott

Some euro cars had factory mud flaps on them by the wheels....that might be what he means.

In the picture the bumpers are way larger than regular ones, and the look like they could be plastic??

Thats the one I saw-doesn't seem like they could give much impact absorption though. and they would be pretty heavy if they were water filled.

No kidding, even 35 gallons of water would be nearly 300lbs!

Hydro = water. Hydro is the root of Hydraulic. Water Bumpers = Bumpers with hydraulic shock absorbers???

Maybe these cars with "water bumpers" were for export to places like north Africa or the Gobi desert
