replace the brake hose.

Your clutch issue is a seperate problem.

The part he posted a link to looks like a brake hose, but is labeled as a clutch slave cylinder hose, thus my suggestion that maybe this was his clutch problem.

Oh never mind, I see what you were referring to. Yes, that's unrelated.

I just looked up your yr car in APX, and checked out the clutch components.
they are just like the one`s in the w123 240D. maybe a different part#. but the same set up.

your source of fluid for the master cylinder comes from the brake reservor.
a hose off the side of reservor goes through a grommet to the MC which is under the dash panel above your left foot. it is attached to the cluch peddle assembly.

there should be a metal line that attaches to the MC and runs along the floor to the go faster peddle. should be a grommet under it where the line goes through the floor.

the slave cylinder is bolted to the right side of the bell housing. your year car has a seperate bell housing and trans mission. you have the cast iron tran case. later yrs had the all one piece aluminium case.

there is a metal clutch line attached to the slave cylinder, (which has some bends to it) and attaches to the line coming from the master cylinder. this is probably where the rubber hose connects the two metal lines together.

I was surprised the rubber hose is listed on APX. the metal lines are a dealer item, if still available for your yr car.

I just bought one for a 83 240, and both are available. the rubber hose is part of the metal line. you are in luck price wise. only $11.00. mine was $68. some pluses to your old car .

Jordaan,
I am about to replace all these in my car, they are on the list of what typically goes bad.Have your mechanic check the clutch master and slave cylinders for leaks, if the seals are bad.
