Surging 190d 2.2

Greetings All,
My 85 190d 2.2, normally idles at about 750. It has developed an annoying surge. It will go from 750 up to about 1000-1100 and back down to 750. It might do it when the engine is cold or when it is good and warm. There is no pattern, it is purely random and it might do it or it might not. The car and engine have about 150,000 miles. If I press on the accelerator slightly, it will smooth out. The air conditioner is turned off and it has a 5 speed. Any ideas?

Thanks.

When the speed is fluctuating is the Engine running smoothly or is it missing?

Me Too

Interesting. I have the same problem with the same engine. For me it started yesterday after I changed my old injectors for some newer ones. Its rhymthic. Any connection DG?

Edit: My engine sorted itself out after a few hours so I'm thinking in this case the problem was air in the fuel system somewhere.
