car wont turn off

my car isnt shutting off when i turn the key off. i know its a vacuum leak because my back door locks usually dont lock when my car wont shut off. it used to shut off somtimes but now it seems the leak has gotten worse.

Is there any way to check where the leak is coming from? or do i have to just start looking all over the place?

You will have to get a mityvac or other and start a systematic vac check.
Many threads on this are available through the search function
It is not really difficult Happy hunting

I am assuming your Power Brakes are working OK.

You could start with a visual Inspection of the Vacuum Lines under the hood.
Also there is a Valve attached to the Steering Wheel Lock that supplies Vacuum to the Vacuum Shutoff on the IP. This is another area where the hose/tubing can come off or be cracked.
Also there is a Vacuum hose/tubing that goes from the Vacuum Valve on the IP down to the Transmission Modulator. That hose/tubing could be damaged some where along the line.

The Vacuum Pump itself can be checked with a regular Automotive Vacuum Gauge but the other things are more easily checked with a little hand held Vacuum Pump/tester that the Members call a "Mighty Vac".
Several companies make them and most Autopart Stores have them; Harbor Freight sells them for around $19 each; less when on sale. I would get one that is made of Metal over the ones that are plastic.

You hook the Vacuum Pump/Tester up to the Vacuum hose or tube you want to test and pump it to create Vacuum and see if it holds Vacuum.

Pic below of a metal one.

Usually it's a leak in the door lock system, unplug the yellow check valve under hood near the firewall, and plug up the connector that led to it. See if the car shuts off with the key.

i appreciate the help and not saying try searching, i really dont have time to sit here all day looking thru old threads. thats what forums are for anyway, the search is helpful somtimes but i only got like 240 posts so i dont think my threads are really anything to be worrying about
