72 220d plastic oil filter
 
anyone have pic of correct placing of plastic oil filter sitting on top of cannister-which way is up?

From the parts catalog it looks like it is the same as on the '75 300D (W115), it will only fit onto the center bolt in one direction. The filter has a tapered hole and the bolt is tapered in that area. Very messy job taking it out. Think this is the part number 0001845725
