HELP!!! Window Will Not Go Up
I went to the drive-up window at the bank today. Put the driver side front window down, now it won't go up. I have power, and hear a click in door when I push button on console. Any way to at least manually get window up for now? I have door panel off, tried lifting window with no success.

sounds like a regulator to me, odd that it would fail in that position though...

Part 2.
From looking at some other posts I found how to get motor out. Got it out, and it worked. Put it back in, moved window a little and stopped. Dummy didn't have glass in front track. Took motor out, got glass in place, glass dropped ( fell ) down. Now, with window up or down, I can't rotate the aluminum bracket clockwise enough to get studs in door holes. Now what? --------------------- 1984 MB 300SD Turbo |
Push the window up to its closed position and wrap tape over the top of the door to hold it up. this will get it out of the equation and give you more room to work. If you absolutely need to drive it, you could probably prop the window up with a 2x4 and wedge it in place. Just keep working with the regulator to get it in place, it can be a bit tricky.

I have manual windows in this 240 because my wagon had electric with problems...
I have always maintained that MB dropped the ball bigtime not having an emergency manual roll up option on these cars like they do for the sun roof.... |
I had the window up and down. Bracket rotates nicely, then stops no matter where glass is. Everything would have been ok the first time if glass was in the track. Can't understand what stops bracket.

The arm has a stop on it but it may be just for lowering the window. If you have a hard time lining up the holes, just plug in the motor and bump it a bit to change the alignment of the holes to match. I am surprised this is not the normal sliding jaw problem.

SUCCESS !!! When the glass was about half way up, everything fell into place. And, the glass was still in the track. Got lucky. One bad thing, I scratched the glass.
Thanks all. --------------------- 1984 MB 300SD Turbo |
