1984 300d rear outer wheel seal

I was doing the rear wheel bearings on my car. As for the outer wheel seal I basically had to sand it off, no fun there. The new seal is different. I know that Mercedes has updated their parts. The old seal was installed inside but the new seal seam like it slips over the hub opening but I can not get it on. Any body ran into this? You can see a picture of what I am talking about in the wiki pictures.

I replied to you on the thread I started, but I think you may still have part of the seal still installed on your hub. the seal is built so that it has a rubber ring inside of a sheet metal ring. if you got that rubber ring out you still have to take off the sheet metal ring. I used a small pry bar.

Glad I could help. at least my wheel bearing install wasn't a total waste, at least I learned something and could help someone else. I have this fear that I'll be taking my bearing back apart.
