Temp gauge not working!
So I've got an old '76 240D, never had a problem w/ the temp gauge in the dash but now it won't read at all.
I've also noticed that my gas gauge doesn't move at all either, it never worked (bad sender) but it always danced around. Now it too is like the temp needle, doesn't move. Any leads on what might be up? mark in Portland |
I guess abracadabra didn't make them work either.
sounds like a ground problem to me. Try running a new ground wire fromt he back of the cluster to the body. |
ground
Yeah I imagine its something simple, I'll try to check out the ground.....

ground
Is there one ground for the instrument cluster or more than one? Because my oil pressure gauge is working just fine, its the temp and tank gauge that isn't working........

one more thing
I should also add that I have the "fast blinker" syndrome, have had it for awhile, both with the left and right turn signal blinking fast (and then every so often it is fine).
I don't know if this has anything to do with my gauge malfunction but it is an electrical issue in the same area so I though I'd mention it....... mark |
The oil pressure gauge isn't electrical, its got an oil line attached to the back of it.
Just run a ground wire from the back of the cluster to the main ground point behind the cluster. Are all the flasher light bulbs good? if so then i'd blame the fast blinks on the relay. |
