w123 sport shocks

can I get the brand names and maybe even model numbers of sport shocks made for the w123? how about a link to a thread which discusses sport shocks for this chassis?

from what i understand bilstein doesn't make sports for this chassis, maybe kyb or some other company does. i know it's a long-shot, but someone might know something no one else here does.

i'm eventually looking to put some home-made ghetto lowering springs (by home made I mean cut-down w126 560sel springs) on my '82 300dt with some sport shocks to improve the handling a bit (that is, in addition to replacing all rubber parts associated with the suspension)

From what I understand, "W123" and "sport" do not belong in the same sentence. I suspect that Bilstein has a similar understanding.

Forced Induction put a stiffer rear swaybar in his, said it worked very well. If he's still banned here, he can be found on other fora.

AMG might disagree, but I dont know if their parts are available to us

Bilstein makes a Heavy Duty shock.

yeah, heard about that. i'm looking for something a bit more stiff. that way i can pretend my low-powered 300dt is a sports car as i roll around the corners at 20mph

huh, good to know. i did read somewhere that upgraded sway bars are no longer available for sale as a new item anywhere online. i'll def be looking for one on ebay germany though

get an SL, and put the OM617 in it... solves all your problems

I don't see a purpose for "sport" anything on a W123, they handle, as intended... I feel comfortable throwing mine around some corners, a little bounce, I think some of it has a lot to do with my seats :o

I would look at a wheel/tire combo to help handling before springs/shocks/struts on this car

actually your post was of no help whatsoever. if you don't see the point, then why bother posting nonsense such as 'get an sl, and put the om617 in it"? that really makes no sense whatsoever and doesn't pertain to my inquiry.

anyone else aware of sport shocks for the w123? not looking to turn my car into a racecar--just want to get some more aggressive handling out of it

last line of my previous post. my interpretation of these cars... which I own one... are meant to be far from aggressive. IMHO... now, if you aren't open to IMO sorta posts, then why exactly are you posting them on an open forum? then have the nerve, to bash said idea and denote it as nonsense.

if you want a better handling car, get a better handling car, unless you can repair yours to handle better. as for finding parts to improve handling over essentially designed setup, you MIGHT get lucky, but as I said.... sports parts, for sports cars.......

not interested in getting into a pissing contest here. everyone's got their opinions about whatever, but there's a point at which an opinion turns into something that's not useful or constructive. what i'm saying is, if you don't have something useful or constructive to say, then keep it to yourself.

telling someone who'se asking about sport shocks to buy another car and throw a different engine into it, is not only not useful, it can be construed as somewhat of an attack or a jab at the least. it's one thing to say you think a chassis is not meant for sport-style handling parts, it's quite another to couple it with "get another car".

matthias, it's clear you've got nothing else to contribute to this thread. perhaps you should just ignore it and start your own thread discussing your opinions on what the w123 is meant to be and not to be and stay out of this one

as for the SL/617 comment. totally kidding. doesn't seem as if you can take a joke, altho, must admit it would be nice.

nor am I trying to start a pissing contest. I'm not aware of any manufacturer (currently)
that makes a "sport" setup, or anything close for our vehicles. I think if possible, it may take away from ride comfort... opinions like this, not trying to change your decision, but consider the options/facts of opposing sides
