Since when? Pretty much every LED application I've seen has been more expensive. My LED mag lite was more expensive than a regular one, but wow is it worth it. Its SUPER bright and can run for many DAYS on just two D batteries!

Give it time, the Chinese knock off`s will be flooding the market soon.

It is like anything new to hit the market, price starts out high, then after a period of time, it comes down.

My Chinese 90/100 watt knock off`s work fine for now

I use LED lighting (made in USA and bought at Walmart believe it or not) in my house....you'd be amazed how much light you can get for virtually no energy use. In the evenings I usually have a single CFL on in my kitchen ceiling light, and a little spotlight lamp in the living room that has a white LED flood bulb in it. It uses a whole 4.5 watts, and lights the entire room. Amazing. I can light my whole living space at night using like 17-18 watts! Considering a tiny incandescent night light uses 4-7 watts.....its unbelievable.

I have a few LEDs in my house, but the color temperature is pretty high and the quality of the light is not so good. I do like how efficient they are, so I use them in areas where light quality is secondary.
Those lights would look silly on a classic mercedes, IMHO. A bit ricey.

I enjoy the white digital-esq gloom. I enjoy it even more knowing it saves me $$$ I can run my LED light for 7-8 hours a day every day of the year for a yearly cost of about 65-70 cents. A comparable (60 watt) standard lamp would use close to $16 of power a year! Not to mention it'd burn out 2-3 times and would need to be replaced. The LED is rated for 35,000 hours.

Yes they got that --Peculiar look, But the most intriguing thing about them is LED lights in general use supposedly 1/8 th the juce that regular bulbs use-----We already know that the Diesels will run all day without a alternator if we have to, Now with these lights maybe half the nite also-Great for buggin out in the G -wagon! looks like Y2k is happening 10 yrs later than expected, So stock up on canned goods, ammo, camoflage netting and git a woman with muscular legs(and Butt-Tocks)-who can carry Lots of firewood!

With the stock battery in a MB you could easily go all night with cluster lights + led headlights....that'd only be like 25ish watts! Hardly any power required at all. Pretty awesome.

You're right, they are the ultimate 2012 mobile.
