pawoSD 07-22-2009 04:58 PM

Center section? I hope you're not talking body. Down with hack jobs!! Unibody cars must stay in one piece from beginning to end!

Doktor Bert 07-22-2009 05:25 PM

If we are talking about what you were talking about on your other thread. 55 lbs for a 2.88 and 85 lbs for 2.47.

Doktor Bert 07-22-2009 05:34 PM

Actually, I think its about 80ish lbs for a 3.07/2.88, and around 123lbs for a 2.47. I just carried them both not too long ago, and the 2.47 is WAY more than 85lbs!

Unless by "Center" you mean just the gears/guts of the diff....

The 2.88 has a 1.1 liter case and 185mm ring gear. The 2.47 has a 1.3 liter case (taller then the 1.1 liter) and a 210mm ring gears. That is where the weight difference is.

Well, I was carrying it WITH the CV axles attached still, so that adds a good deal to it....

Psh, weak, I just carried my replacement transmission around the garage today. Those, are heavy with the torque converter still in place.

I've been known to bend 1/2" drive breaker bars so they look like a boomerang. :D

J/K :D
