AC air filter?

Has anyone upgraded an older W124 to a later system that uses a filter for the air intake on the HVAC? What year did they make the filter system so that I might look at one? I know I have to clean and possibly clean my evap core and heater core so while I am doing that I would like to add a filter system to prevent future buildup fo crap.

OE ACC filters for the 124 started in 94. The airbox and attachments are different so you can't retrofit just the filter. In fact the airbox itself isn't a straightforward swap. There are stores in Japan that sell filter kits that fit 86-93 124s. A kit was about $70 4 years ago.
