Please don't buy a W123. The W124 is sooooo much more advanced in almost every way. IMO, the safety features of ABS and airbags alone (not counting all the other design improvements) justify the step up to the 124 chassis. The handling is night & day... the 123, even with all new suspension components, still handles like a cruise ship (BT, DT). Even a worn-out 124 will handle 10x better than a new 123. I do recommend you test drive a couple of 123's for comparison with the 124, though. I'd expect that the test drives will help you understand where I'm coming from.
