Rust repair

I haven't updated this in a while, Car now has 194,200 miles as of today. The car is pretty much the same, no other repairs, however i had the windows tinted a few months ago to help preserve the interior against the HOT FL sun.

Now my 300D is fairly rust free, thats prolly the largest reason as to why i bought this particular W115.

Anyways i got around to repairing some of the little rust bubbles behind the pass rear wheel. There were just caused by rocks and other road grime chipping the paint over the years.

I ordered a 12.5oz can of paint from paintscratch, i must say, they couldnt have done a better job matching the DB-504 English red, its almost exact. Very pleased with their services, however it took 2 weeks to get the paint but thats to be expected when ordering custom mixed paint.

First i used a grinding stone on a dremel tool to remove all traces of the rust. Primed the metal and used some filler on the tiny holes. Sanded everything down until it was straight as an arrow. more primer and wet sanding and then i applied 3 coats of English red paint. A few days later i wet sanded the paint to remove orange peel and then buffed out to mirror shine with a electric buffer and a few different compounds and polishes.

Here are some pictures when i was about done. I wish I had taken a before shot but it slipped my mind until it was to late.

I think it came out rather well. I look forward to continue on and repair the other small bubbles and chips. Let me know what you think

Wow, they really did a nice job matching your paint. I wish my car was a stock color, there's a couple small area's that I could use to fix

Wow

That is exceptional, especially for a red.

Great work on your 300d... Nice to see an English red W115. Can't even tell the difference on the repair work..

Very nicely done...I'm impressed! Now, can you do mine?

My one rust spot is almost in the same area, with some more a little further up, between the tail light and the marker light.

Strangely...I actually prefer the big US bumpers to the smaller/older style. I would like the true all-glass Euro headlight housings though.

more painting

My front passenger fender had a small scrape on the fender lip with some surface rust starting. Some had painted that LOWER portion prior to my owner ship and the entire lower part was not shiney at all, same goes for the entire passenger door, which i will fix in time.

Anyways, i striped all lights, and trim pieces off and painted the lower section to match the upper section.

In the next day or so i will wet sand the paint and polish it out to a nice shine. It should turn out nice.
