Is there a seal on the Turbo of 300d
I was took the turbo off so I could do the drain grommet replacement. I took the 6 bolts off and tapped the housing off the turbo. Is there suppose to be seal on this. If so what is it? I scrapped something off, but can't tell what it was? Help needed before I put it back together.
Thanks

If you have a Garrett (Air Research) Turbocharger there was a thin gasket there; at least there is on mine.
Changing the thickness of the Gasket changes how close the Compressor wheel is to the housing. (Note: I am not saying that the clearance there is adjusted by different thickneses of Gasket I am saying that if you use no Gasket at all when the Turbo gets hot it may cause the Compressor Wheel to rub on the Housing; that would be bad news.) Pic of the Gasket. I do not know how thick the Gasket is supposed to be but the Garrett T-3 type turbos are common on a lot of American Cars and a Speed Shop may sell the Gasket.
