I guess that makes sense.....still though. It can't be that comfortable....especially on Michigan roads....a 2500HD has a firm ride! Around here that = bump bang bounce ow! I don't think I could take it for 160+ miles a day.

I'd like to know just two things...where is my bailout and when?
C4C is nothing more than more bailout for the auto companies. Did you hear anything about this program last year? Just more of the same for the fat cats!!!
Lets outlaw old gas guzzlers and any others that may survive time. What does that leave? Unless you are a complete idiot, only "new efficient" vehicles. AKA Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler. Oh ya the same bozos were are bailing out.

The program is fine for those who have a real clunker (horrible maintenance, bad car, real bad MPG, whatever make of vehicle) as long as they can support the new vehicle payments. The program is only for a narrow range of individuals, us enthusiasts are definitely out of the loop because we love our cars for what they are and will never trade them in for something else that is considered disposable.

The problem arises when we enthusiasts look at others' cars (MB or whatever else floats our boat) that have been traded in as a clunker when the previous owner got tired of it despite it being in great shape (to an extent). To them they want it gone, and could have gotten less if sold privately. To us there's more than just that.

All the more reason for us to hold on to what we have now, and fix them up. Quality over quantity.

Which for a Kia is 150 too much.

That says it all. How can they be expected to make an efficient car choice when they can't even choose a job near their home (or a home near their job)?

I guess.....in the guy's case who does 165 miles a day in his pickup....his wife apparently also drives like 70+ miles each way in the opposite direction for her job. Who would do that? They must pollute more than their entire neighborhood!

If I could get a home that was 70 miles away from the city my job was in, I'd pay this cost and any other as long as the job was making up for it not to have to live in the city.

What a waste of resources no matter what brand you're talking about. Those vehicles look to be in very good shape. None of them are worth more than $4500??? I wonder how many vehicles that are turned in are actually worth more than $3500 or $4500 but the owners don't check into it first. And what about all the pollutants spewing out of that engine? Breathing in those fumes can't be good for anybody. I have no problem with cars and and trucks that have been beat to crap and used up being turned in, but it is crazy for cars like that to be destroyed.

I bet if you saw a car that was turned in, and you offered the dealer $4500 before they turned the car into the government (and before they destroyed it) that they would take it. Hopefully many of these cars will go to salvage yards, as parts can still be sold, other than the drivetrain.

This whole C4C is just a temporary fix. As soon as it is over, car sales will be back where they were. And guess who gets to pay for it? You guessed it, us taxpayers. And those of us who don't buy a car are getting more of the shaft. If the car companies were run right, there would be no need for these bailouts and stimuli. Just take a look at how Ford has been doing without government money, while increasing quality and market share.

NOPE, once its it their lot its considered a CLUNKER, its very illegal for a dealer to sell a clunker to you, they can even loose their dealer's license if they do so.
