Fuel Thermostat SDL

Ironically, I've had two fuel thermostats fail in the last 6 months. (separate cars).....I noticed the rebuild kits are about $52 bucks each and just wonder how important these units really are. I can guess that during the Summer, it really does not make a difference, and the only problem that I had was leakage.

Do I need the whole kit or just the oring seal?

Cool Fuel thermostat

I removed mine from my car. I just got fed up with rebuilding it over and over. I didn't notice anything different without it.

cheers,

Its only active in freezing weather, then it only gets the fuel to about 70*f.

Most of the time its only the o-ring needed.

I’d love to ditch mine as well, can anyone see a need for it in Atlanta?

Ive got enough extra hoses under the hood. Would be nice to free up some space down there.

What would you do with the opening in the head?

Did you ever actually yank this gizmo? I've got a leaking one and am strongly considering abolishing it. How would you plug the hole in the head?

I guess leave part of a coolant line attached with a bolt plugged down in it.

There is no coolant line to deal with. Fuel gets heated when it travels next to metal heater pipe, by oil filter. Removed mine, do not expect any problems.
