Interchange of 300 turbo engine and transmission

Would a 83 or 85 300 Turbo Engine block fit on a 79 non turbo head and transmission? I found a nice 1979 wagon with a blow bottom end. I can get a 83 or 85 bottom end from a friend and wonder if it fits?

I am almost certain you can.

But I am bumping this thread for others to bicker me wrong.

you may want to keep the '79 motor mount arms and put them on the donor block.

Trans will def bolt up unless the '85 is a california (maybe?? starter location issue)

The 83 and 85 are both a 617.952 engine, so is the calif 85.
the calif 85 has the same mounting arms, and the transmission will bolt to one, no difference.

the calif starter has the solenoid on the bottom instead of on top. this is to clear the trap. should be able to use the starter either way.

the blocks are the same except for the end of the crank, the hole for a pilot bearing is smaller if an 85 is to be used with a manual trans.
