Damaged plastic tranny modulator cap. Will silicone fix it?
I removed my cap to try and soften my shifts a little. After I turned the little "t", I replaced the cap then tested the line under the hood to ensure vacuum would hold. Sure enough, won't hold a vacuum anymore.
I believe I messed up the plastic cap on there. It's the white hard plastic cap, not the little black rubber one. Can I just silicone around this thing and hope for the best? Or did I over-adjust, causing failure internally?

I don't think the plastic cap has anything to do with holding vacuum. I believe you will need a new modulator. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

If you cracked it it will need to be replaced....I doubt a silicon fix would work very well.

Dang!!
I know for a fact the modulators that have the little black rubber cap CAN lose vacuum out of the cap... the plastic ones, i dunno

Anyone try this before? I really don't want to replace this thing. Maybe I just backed the T handle out too far? Would that cause vacuum loss?

UPDATE>
I rotated the pin nearly back to the position it was in before I made the adjustments... it's holding better vacuum, but it still drops quickly. I suspect after I repair the cap (it's cracked) the modulator should hold full vacuum once again... Moral: if you back out your T too much, you will loose ALL vacuum.
