Gas manual on a 617?

Hi,

Will the manual transmission from a 280CE bolt up to a 617?

Thanks,

Most probably yes, if they are both 123 chassis.

I think the main issue is if the starter wart is on the same side on the gasser as it is on the 617.

should work but keep in mind the starter issue might be on the other side.

I have yet to see a case where within a model series the transmissions are not interchangable between the gas and oel engines within the series.

? Any other gas engine n the W123 will not work with the 617 other than the 280, atleast not without a lot of work.

The tranny that I might be able to get is from a '80 280CE. It's supposed to be a 5 speed.

The M102's manual that's in a 230CE will not fit a 617 because of the starter hump issue.
