Puegeots are like Fiats: They are a joy to drive, engineering and design is often delightful, drivelines last pretty well, but the bodywork and accessories are usually a constant pain.

That is an awesome website! thank you so much for sharing it!! From what parts they have they are rather inexpensive, compared to what i've seen shopping for the 220. I'm so excited!!! I can't wait to begin restoring this car!

That's awesome, ugh I need to stop looking at pictures of it, cause i'm falling more in love with it -__________- lol

My dad told me he had two back in the day and said they were so comfortable and he didn;t have problems with them. He went with me to see it today and liked it. Just can't wait to pull it out and begin the process.

I had a room-mate who had a 504 diesel wagon for several years, with few problems. They are supremely comfortable, which is my main attraction to them. The combination of the soft seats, and soft, heavily damped suspension feels wonderful. There's nothing else like it. I was actually disappointed with some of the later models, with larger anti roll bars and stiffer suspensions.

I'm glad your dad is in to them. That will make it a lot more fun.

Looks like an interesting project....I wonder why someone would junk it with only 93k on it.

Can you get a clear title for it? If not, I'd walk away.
My dad drove an 80's era Puegeot diesel and he only remember having problems getting parts.

Right? It had all maintenance done by book up until 1995 at 69,000 miles. And I just remembered I saw this same car on the road about a year ago driving around. I remember it because I was like "dude look, there is a Peugeot!" (My friend was in the car, he even remembers!)

I'm HOPING they decided to junk it because they didn't know jack about it, and it was running bad or the tranny went out and they didn't want to spend the money to fix it. I just want to figure it out!

If anything, it's probably going to get a salvage title, but it's too rare of a car just to pass on, especially in its condition, which is totally savable. I just can't pass up on a French car

Thankfully after checking out some parts, they seem pretty low price in general and abundant. I'm so excited!

I drove one when it was practically brand new. It belonged to the owner of the shop that I used to work for at the time. He bought it as a damaged vehicle and the shop repaired it. As I remember, only the front end was damaged and the engine was untouched. I do recall it was very comfortable but it was painfully slow until the turbo kicked in.
Maybe the low mileage is a result of the poor service the car received and that it spent most of it's life in the shop.

Well slow is not a problem for me, at all! lol I have owned and driven an automatic 240D with numerous problems that slowed it down more than usual. I had Semi's passing me angrily as I was going so slow! Although it was a little top once they were all fixed. It got great service up until 1995 at 69,000 miles. The original owners were on top of that.

I found registration in the visor today with a local address.. Went by only to find out the owners moved out years back and sold the car to some random person. My guess is, that they sold it to someone who didn't realize what it was and thought it was a Toyota Camrey, because with how the condition of the body and interior are, normally, one would just fix the small problem or sell it to someone else, rather than towing it to a junkyard and getting $100-200 for it...

You just don't junk a car in great condition because the motor went bad unless you don't see cars anything more than a Camrey.. Even if the motor went bad in my 240D, I wouldn't of junked it. I would have either sold it to someone else, put a new motor in it or parted it out. Not junk it.. Something happened to it in the past year/year and a half because I saw it driving around.

I live in a HOT HOT place where temps can reach up to 124oF and i'm thinking maybe heat killed it.

Piggout diesels have wet sleeve engines.

The head bolts have to be retourqued to spec occasionally. I think it might have been ever 12 to 15 k.

Otherwise, it's gonna be head gasket time.

Hmmm The more i'm thinking about it, the more i'm starting to be convinced that overheating was the problem. Might have a cracked block or something or maybe a blown head gasket, but to me that's still not a reason to junk it.. I had a bad head gasket on my 240D and it ran great except for heating up on the freeway. but I never changed it and did road trips to Arizona some 300 miles away, and it was fine.

What actions need to be taken if the block is cracked? New motor? Or can it be repaired? I know a head gasket job is like 1,200 or something along those lines.
