rear wiper motor diagrams?

hi i took apart my non-functioning rear wiper motor on my 82 wagon. it gets power. it was caked with old grease but otherwise seemed okay. i cleaned it real good, put dialectric grease put it back together and it almost wants to work (i move the motor around and it works in some positions but not others, so no, it's not working). is there a diagram somewhere with all the parts, that can help on how it all goes back together? there are some tiny parts that seem to locate the motor, or brushes...thanks, chuck

if the motor works, but the gears are not engaging like mine, I ended up removing the pins that keep the two covers together and drilling threads and replacing the pins with machine screws. on my motor that i fixed, everytime the gears would begin to engage it would push the cover apart causing the gears to skip and miss its teeth. With all the grease put in by the factory those pins got lubed up and allow the motor case to open up, so i replaced them with screws and viola!

I don't know if this is exactly your issue, but pay attention to the assembly when its under load. If you notice the cover opening up like a 1/8 of an inch, it might be something you might want to consider. it helped me.

thanks, yes, i think i found the factory grease. when i took the motor off the body - it exposed the white gear, which seemed to be in perfect shape, but there were several pins, like you said. i'll take i apart again and see if i didn't put it back correctly. c

hook the unit up to a power source and watch it operate. I know that one of the "arms" inside got jammed on the housing. pry it loose. But observe it once it goes under load, because like i said the gears pushed the housing apart because those pins don't keep the housing tightly sealed.

well, i dismantled the wiper again. discovered it was the motor that was not working right. i took it apart and found that one of the brushes wasn't making contact - it was sticking open. fixed that, put it together and now it works. only thing is it seems awfully slow and if the window is totally dry it will stop mid sweep.
thank for your help. chuck
