Have you guys tried the trunk/floor/fender void space? It has been known that people found stack of cash ( and others ?? ) neatly wrap up in plastic in the void space. No such luck for me as I do not own a Cadillac.

This is a great thread!!

When I was a 16 yo. I worked weekends for a car dealer.
He used to get cars from the edge of the Australian outback, Broken Hill & Pt. Augusta, the most common.
Often he would get station managers cars, typically late 1960's white Ford Fairlanes.
These cars had hardly been on a bitumen road in their life, full (6"deep) of red dust. While I had the job I had a constant supply of bullets found in the dirt on the cars floor, there were the occasional rabbits head as well.
I dug up a small hydraulic jack on day, and under the back seat in one there was a dead snake.
There was a 12gauge double barrel shot gun concealed under the back seat in one. Another regular was nearly empty ziploc dope bags.
Always finding money, condoms & underwear and other clothes. Once found a summons for a serious assault charge. One of the other guys found what looked like the tip of some ones finger with the nail still there, yuk!
Chances are if you buy a car from a dealer, all the goodies & and a few baddies will be gone.

The pieces of Glass I found under my seat proved that the Rear Window on my Mercedes had been replaced with another used Window (minus the Defroster Grid Connectors).

My then Girlfriend bought a used Car. The next day the Guy She bought the Car from ask if we had found any keys in the Car; among the keys were the ones He needed for his place of business.
That Girl and I broke up and eventually we both married other people (She is also a Friend of my Family). But, ounce and a while over the years She would pay me to work on her Car.
I found those missing Keys (Ring with at least 10 Keys) about 10 years later in an obscure recess under the Passanger Seat.

Folks lives sure are more exciting than mine.....

Lots of horse hair over the years, lots of change. A few broken off sculpted fingernails in hot pink, pens, more change often from the 80's.......
Was that a court summons in there?

At least it was UNOPENED!
I would be calling those numbers

I have found receipts for fuel, pens, some loose change and tissues under my seats. I have yet to pull up the back seat, but sincemy car was owned by older folks I am sure I will not find any coney island whitefish under there :-)

Hey guess what - this is my 1900th 'official' post! WOO HOO

I bought a new 82 Buick Regal. Found a lot of nuts and bolts, a new PW switch in the trunk, and a door lock switch in the glove box. It also had a rattle in the right rear of the car that sounded like it was in the rear quarter panel (2 door car). Turned out to be a loaded 357 mag pistol with one empty round. Turned it over to the police and never hear from it again. Also found $25 in a Bible in the back of a 500SEL I bought as a parts car. IO only paid$20 bucks for the car.

I found 3 unused condoms in the pouch that holds the lug wrench and jack handle under the seat of my Dodge truck. I once found a very old unused condom behind the dash of my 70 El Camino. Why the heck do people hide rubbers in the car?? Are the illegal now or something??

On a car I stripped, I found a whole bunch of 7.62 rifle ammo, including a number of blanks.

I also found an ID tag for the Y for a 9 year old girl in the early 80s 5 states away. On a lark, I did a search on facebook and found her, then sent her an email asking if her family had owned an 81 240 and that I was now in posession of it if so.
She was pretty freaked out, and had me destroy the card and send her proof, but I did learn some history about the car, and after she decided not to call the police, requested some pictures of the car for her family!

Very high strung lady, In my opinion, you can't put 500 pictures of yourself drunk and all your personal info on the internet and then act surprised with a 3 second google/facebook/myspace search yields information for gods sake.

At any rate, it all ended well.

She probably didn't have anything to worry about. As I understand it, the statute of limitations for "Y" crimes is about 25 years so she was safe.

You think it ended well... until she contacts you late one night...

Speaking of gold, I know a guy living in a neighboring state who bought a 1939 MB 170V from its former owner and had it shipped north from Argentina, where it had been since right after the war. His dad owned a body shop, and when they did the frame-off restoration, they did find a small box welded inside the inner portion of the X frame. They found German Reichsmark coins and stamps, plus an amount of gold which I will not specify, so the IRS doesn't come after him! But it was enough to pay for the car and much more.

I don't get on here very often but thought I would weigh in on this. I've had a bunch of used cars over the years usually buying and selling something every year just for fun. Usually just found the usual loose change and parking reciepts and ATM/gas reciepts. But once I bought a used Jag the PO called me the next day to ask if he left a folder with some important papers in the trunk. When I went to check it out I did not find his folder but decided to check in the spare tire well just for fun. Thought I saw something under the spare tire so I unbolted it and lifted it up and found a bag full of syringes (to big for a diabetic) and other drug stuff. A bunch of business cards for the Las Vegas area, even though according to Car Fax the car had been sold new and lived it's life around the Chicago area, a stack of girly magazines, but best of all a reciept saying the engine had been replaced with a brand new (not rebuilt) unit about 20k ago to the tune of $9000. When I called the guy back and told him he was pi**ed. Said he never had a reason to get the spare tire out.
