Diesel Land Rovers by the boatload!

Check out Ebay listings for old Land Rovers..... Now that the 25 year import laws have passed the early 80's it looks like people are really bringing in the Defender 110 200tdi conversions....

Cool to have, ... if you don't need to make highway speeds. The tdi LRs are pretty lethargic.

Maybe the original Land Rover diesels...... From what i've read the 200tdi (First used in 1989) Gives a 0-60 of about 15 seconds on a Discovery. I think that compares favorably to a 240/300 D

Like I said, lethargic. I considered my V8 Discovery adequate, ... but the tdi version was not much for highway use (nor intended to be). Comparing it to a 240D might be the best way to describe it other than it is a turbo, ... can operate at high altitude.

I had an H1, same problem. Little CJs could better negotiate tight wooded trails, my disco did very well also; "lockers, rockers, and winch" would always rule the trail.

I always wanted a diesel, but my truck was too new to do a conversion, and I really liked having highway & towing power when I needed it (and the hummer filled the diesel desire, ... poorly (GM diesel)). A tdi here would fall into the "hobby truck" category for me and I'd rather have a diesel DOKA 416 with torque-converter for that.

That is the one thing that always put me off about the H1. They are so damn wide I just pictured them getting stuck between two trees.... whereas a G or a Disco would be useing them like a slalom course. Still one day in the far future I think having one of the smaller 416 Unimogs and a large track of land will make a nice peaceful retirement.

Anything that has a TD5 engine is going to command top dollar. Those engines were used until only a few years ago.

I heard Diesel Land Rovers are coming out soon in a year or so. But just a rumor.

I love Land Rovers, sorry to all you Jeeps fans, we even had a Jeep but nothing compares to a Land Rover off road. Unless of course you get those custom built off road vehicles that are like $700,000.

Another reason to get a land rover:
