84 300d fan blades size??

Are the fan blades in the 84 300d same size as in the 83 300d?
I tried a fan shroud from a 83 in my 84 and it hits the fan, i tried installing it several times, i am stuck on this one, any help?

are you going from metal fan to plastic fan ?

if not.. try repositioning the radiator and shroud.. there are adjustments fro the shroud tabs

Somewhere in that time frame Mercedes changed to a different pulley size to make the fan spin faster, presumably pulling more air. The fan size may have changed at the same time, along with the shroud.

Fan sizes are the same for all the 617.95x turbos regardless if they are the 6 blade steel or 9 blade plastic. All 617.952 (300D) and the '81-83 617.951 (300SD) had the 7 inch water pump pulley. The '84-'85 617.951 (300SD0 had the 6 inch water pump pulley.

As jt20 stated try repositioning the fan shroud. If it doesn't work, take some pictures so we can determine how to correct the problem.

That would help to explain why the local parts places have trouble selling the correct size belts.

Anyone have a spare 6" pulley they want to get rid of?

The shroud i have which i pulled form a 83 says use only with no100?
I tried and i tried putting this thing in my 84 but i cant clamp it onto the radiator without making it hit the bottom blades, is there a trick to shuving the radiator deeper into the holes on the frame of the car?
