Is an 86 126 300SDL one with the # 14 head?

I have over 200k miles on a #14 head. If the car has been taken care of meticously like mine was you have nothing to worry about.

I agree with Oracle not all #14's were junk, there was a problem with them but not everyone made had issues. Mine is well into the high 300's.

How can you tell if a 300SDL with a #14 head has problems?
I just test drove an 1987 300SDL with a #14 head, ~247K on it and it seemed to run great... The temp guage did get up to ~85C and the accelerator pedal had a consistent (weird) vibration that sort of tickled your toes after a while...? |

Try the radiator hose pinch test. Press the radiator hose 12 hours after the engine was shut off. If you feel pressure, it's probably residual compression pressure leaking past the head gasket or cracks in the head keeping the cooling system pressurized. The cooling system's natural operating pressure should subside as the coolant returns to ambient temperature.
