Question Anyone on the forum rebuild injectors?

Hi Guys,

Does anybody out there in Forum Land currently rebuild injectors? My 82 240D could really use a new set, and I'd rather send my money to someone on the forum then find and pay for a shop to do them. I know that bgkast used to offer this service, but is not currently taking orders.

Thanks a lot!

Mike

Yeah, which is why I'm trying to figure out if there's anyone else out there who is in the same business.

Rebuild Injectors

Got a vice grip? Got a box of O-Rings? Have access to a pop tester? That's what I did to stop the leaks. actually, I started the job with4 junk yard injectors for a similar 240D. I pop tested all 8, placed them in order of pressure, braised the bad one to use for compression tester and took the four middle ones. Then I replaced all the rubber O Rings, snugged them up to get rid of the leaks, and . . . presto, perfect injectors.

O-rings? I'm not aware that there are any o-rings in the injectors.

No O-rings; either it is a joke or he is speaking of Gaser Injectors that have O-rings.
Unless Heat Shields are considered O-rings by some folks.

Injectors

I don't know about the '80s, but in the late 70s, the injector bodies had a top and a bottom that screwed together. There was an O-Ring or compression gasket between them. Inside there was a high tension spring, and the needles. Did they change much in the 80s?

Brian told me he is taking a hiatus from the injector business to work on some other projects this summer. My guess is that he'll be back in the saddle before long (I hope!). That was at the GTG earlier this summer.
