Where is the expansion valve on a 84 300SD?

Pardon my ignorance but, where is the expansion valve on a 84 300SD?

You can find ANY component in ANY refrigeration system if you understand the basic diamond diagram.

Think of the compressor as home plate. The high side leads to the condensor at first base, the expansion device at second base, the evaporator at third base and then back to home plate (the compressor.) Everything between home plate and second base is high side pressure and between second base and home is low side pressure.

Using this simple fundamental, you can follow the lines and find any component in the system and know whether to expect low or high side pressure at that point.
