300 SD --- need part
Kinda stuck here. The plate that my driver's door handle (inside cab) attaches to is broken. Having no luck finding old 300 SD's at junk yards here in KY. Does anyone have one to spare on an old parts car (mine's an '83)? Or any ideas where there is a well stocked junk yard in western KY. Don't have my camera handy to attach a picture, but will do so later if that would be helpful. The broken one is made of pot metal, so doubt that welding will work. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Send us a picture. I have some spare parts that you can have but not sure exactly which one you need.

I think it's the inside door handle, there is a pin that holds it onto the easily fatigued pot metal, not sure you replace just the pot metal.
New ones are around $20.

John - here is a picture of what I have - MB part # A 126 760 01 61. You will see one entire pot metal piece, then a broken pot metal piece with the chrome handle still attached and standing up (break is at a bolt hole). However after looking at it I will bet that the broken piece in the picture is the exact piece that you need. I probably replaced the exact piece that you need to replace. No idea what the Atlanta MB dealer charged me but at least it is available.

Not easy to get that pin out. In a pinch you can use one from the rear door, it's the same part.
