I'm home at last! Got an '85 300TD today!

I haven't been on DD often lately. I sold my beloved '81 300SD in November 2007. I've kept it in my sig as a sort of memorial. Today, that changes.

I acquired a straight, rust free, Phoenix car since new, 1985 300TD. Nautical blue over blue Tex. Guy literally drove into the shop I work at today with a FS sign in the back window. I decided to buy it. Got permission from the wife first, of course...

She *loves* the new acquisition. Considering-selling-her-paid-for-Scion-to-drive it, that's the sentiment. Which is fine with me. I can't really justify having the S4, the TD, and the BMW R60 bike all to myself on our budget.

The Benz needs a lot of this-n-that fixed but nothing I've not encountered before.

It's GRRREAT to be back!

Congrats on your newest Benz. I think you'll like what '85 had to offer in the W123.
I'm also most pleased with your correct amount of "T"s.
Now, like has already been said, let's see some pics......

Until there are pictures, I don't see any evidence to support this claim.

Well, I'm not the moderator here. I am on an Audi forum but that's a different story...

I chose my description carefully. She's a Touring Diesel, IOW a wagon. Just a five-seat one. No third seat, but she's got factory crossbars for the rack on top. SLS seems to be working fine. It's just as well that it is only a five-seater; I wouldn't want to get stuck in a permanent role as the ultimate bar taxi...

ALDA line got cleaned out today, it's much quicker now! Pics are coming after I give the TD a good cleaning.

It's a relief that nobody has to be "T"'d off.

Congrats on the new ride! Should be a sweet car for many many years! May I ask what you paid for it and the miles? Can you post a pic? My GF nix'd the idea of driving the 300D and bought an older Civic(but plans on giving it to her daughter next year). I'm still working on her. I think she wants the SDL but I said nay nay!

I'm also a fan of the S4 and the BMW bike.
I've owned 4 BMW bikes and currently own a 1981 R100Rt. Funny how cars and bikes just multiply!! I'd need a climate controlled big pole barn or a warehouse for my toys if money was no object!

The mileage is funny; it's said to be 230k by the seller, the meter's stopped at 101k, and the title (legitimate!) says 000000 in the miles section. My old-Benz radar says around 200k and the transmission's been rebuilt, I think.

Again, she's a Phx, AZ car with the fade and the rustless underside to prove it. $1500.

Did I do good?

Thumbs up

I think a rust free Benz is always worth $1500 if not trashed otherwise and the repairs needed are not excessive to get back up to par. But I'm not a expert on this subject. Daw_two, Pierre, or Tyler would prob be who I asked. Around here you can't even get a Camry/Accord in good condition for that, and your TD will be a appreciating asset if you keep it up!
I think you did good!
