weird chain of events

While Driving Home the other day in 95 E300D noticed that the break pad indicator light was coming on, so i ordered break pads. then yesterday the ABS light, ASD light came on and then the tach stopped working, they all went crazy at the same time. today it works fine.

any ideas what happen

Try the OVP (over voltage protection) relay. It is located behind the plastic wall behind the battery - the black plastic wall is removable. Take out the battery, remove the plastic and look for a relay with a clear plastic cube on top that contains a 10A red (? - I think) fuse. Check the fuse first - or the whole relay could be going. Not sure if this is your problem, but a good thing to check out - others will weigh in on this I'm sure.

Hopefully i'm still 262,xxx miles away from this happening to me...

I unfortunately have nothing to input on this topic....

I'm book marking this, just in case.....

I keep a known-working OVP relay on the shelf, if you don't need it now, you will.

I've replaced the one in the black '94 twice, with the "new style" both times.

99.9999 % chance it's the OVP Relay[or it's fuse(s)]

2 Attachment(s)
(And his Mogness is a very wise MV Operator.)

All of the replacement OVP relays for your model come with TWO 10Amp fuse
locations

Typical mercedes failure. If you wait a day or so the noise or whatever tends to permanently dissapear. 'First few times really suprised me now only glad I did not have the time available to troubleshoot at the time of the problems.

First time was the charm. Heavy dull thumping towards the rear of the engine. Not good at any time and especially as these engines do not seem to drop carbon chunks. No longer there next morning. Never came back. now I wonder if most the items I repaired would have self rectified if left alone? I believe the slogan built like no other car. :D

I presently have a transmission that seems to downshift into first a little easier than I like on my 1984 300d. Wait for it to rectify itself or go at it? Almost a flip of the coin. Car was not driven for years until reciently.

Could also be a failing voltage regulator.
