Not really, I used two cans of "3M SUPER SPRAY ADHESIVE" to apply my hood pad over 5 years ago, it is still firmly attached. Cost for two big cans was about $12 when I did it.

I used the 3M spray adhesive as well and it's holding with no problems.

the dealership glue costs $20 but sticks really well and you only need 1 can of glue not 2

Hood Pad

I recently purchased a hood pad from performance products and also the 3M glue for about $65. You may have to tweak it a bit but it seems to work just great. Bill.

Both my 123 and my 124 have replacement hood pads attached with 3M 8090, the "super weatherstrip adhesive." It was about $17 a can and I used a little over 1 can but could have gotten by with just 1 can. The installation procedure has been extensively discussed in several threads on this forum.

I sure that's what I used. It comes in a big can and one can was more than enough for me. You need to follow the instuctions on the can to the letter. You spray both the pad and the underside of the hood and wait a little while before attaching the pad.

Two cans of the 3M stuff cost less than the dealer stuff.....the dealer glue is probably a rebranded 3M product (or some German glue maker's product) anyways.

actually you are wrong. Have you seen the mercedes glue that comes in a can? Ive used both the 3M stuff and the mercedes glue and can tell the mercedes stuff is better. The 3M glue didnt hold up very well, mercedes glue is holding up much better than the 3M glue.

It seems to be contact cement. It smells like it and it seems to work pretty much like the stuff I've used for putting laminate on cabinets.

Can't say that I've ever used it.....but the 3M stuff has held up great for me so far....

Perhaps next time I will check out the MB glue....
