How many miles on your Benz?

How many miles on your Benz? I will try to do a high mileage survery similar to that done by the Star magazine of about five years ago.

I don't know if this will work, but if you have more than one Benz, vote them individually. If that won't work, vote with your highest mile car.

Hopefully this will be as fun as the one in the Star.

Have a great day,

hey Larry
just got my engine back in the car this afternoon and will begin hooking it all up after dinner. Should be running fine tomorrow. 265,000 miles on the 617.951 engine and I am amazed at how good the internals were. I will itemize the costs for all to see. Remember this is what I call an overhaul--- not a complete rebuild. with a head job and new injectors I still think I am around $1000 Thanks for the help...She purrs like a kitten till the lake pipes roar. Now that I know what is inside these engines, I would like to get me another motor and see how much power we could squeeze out of these. I bet there is a bunch of hidden HP. I know at the expence of longevity. But heck there is a bunch of them out there.

jb,

Did you rering, replace liners, or bore?

Sounds like you're moving right along with it.

Good luck,

174k mi. on my '88 300TE-runs as new, and burns not a drop of oil.

I plan to keep it until it sees a million miles! I put the 250k km. badge on it-looks great, and shocks people when they see the condition of the car

Mercedes hands out badges for mileage? How do you apply for one? Thanks. This is kind of motivation for me to keep my car longer.

I once got a 250k (or 200k?) badge for my 300D. I filled out a form and they sent me the badge. This was 10 years ago. I don't know if they still do it. I have to stop at the dealership to pick up a missing cylinder head bolt washer and radiator hose. (One washer fell somewhere and I can't find it!) I will ask about the badges when I am there.

mileage

It only let me vote once! I have three MBs. (voted 100-200k)
'86 190E (Wife's car) 170k
'83 300D (daughter's car in 2 weeks) 355k
'87 560SEL (mine) 317k
and just for good measure:'93 Suburban 158k
for a grand total of over "one MILLLLION miles"
so I'm cheap and buy used cars-at least I buy right.

You can get a badge at 250km, 500km, and 1000km.

Call 1-800-FOR-MERC for an application. Mine's on the way!

So far, just about half of us have between 200-300,000 miles. I wish Mercedes issued badges sooner than 500,000KM (312,500 miles) I wonder how many Benzes have the 500,000 KM badge, and I mean in the world. I suppose Mercedes knows.

Turbodiesel,

The 200k badge was superceded by the 250k badge. You should be able to get them both.

I fell into a particular timeframe with my 240D in which I got the 200k badge, then the 250k badge, so I have three badges on the grill. The 250k badge is silver rather than gold, the 250K badge changed to gold not long ago. The 250k badge on my 300E is gold, and looks great.

I need to get a 250k badge now for my daughters car.

Have a great day,

Wow - I didn't know you could get one at 155,000 miles. The dumb dealer here said you got one when you completed your maintenace book (187,500). My paperwork is on the way. Thanks!

Oldsouth, maybe your dealer automatically fills in an application on the behalf of customers when they complete their service book. If he did mean that you can only get a badge after 187,000 miles, then he/she is mistaken.
