Last week coming home my 81 Sd lost power ,was so bad that it would only pull its self in first gear the fuel gague showed about a third of a tank
I limped it home and next morning it started and I saw the clear small fuel filter was full of froth,I filled the tank and it ran fine again.Today(full tank) going to the post office it ran fine a few miles then lost power felt like the turbo wasn't working. On way back from post office it lost power and finally quit the battery light brake light and seat belt light came on and I coasted off the road sat a minute it restarted and ran fine the rest of the way home,any ideas?

You've got a fuel problem. Not experienced enough to tell you which one but the first thing I would do would be to change both filters.

It's almost certain that you got a bad tank of fuel. As Jim says, change both fuel filters and get an extra pair while you're there. It sounds so bad, that you may have to drain the tank. I would try a set of fuel filters and some additive first.

She'll live though.

don't forget about the filter in the bottom of the fuel tank. something might be lurking inside the tank
