82 300D engine into 81 300TD
So the pistons on my 300TD (wagon) are shot and I want to replace the engin with the one from my 82 300D (sedan). The wagon has a SLS, will this become a problem with the engine swap? Are there any other differences between the engines that I should know about?
Thanks! |

just swap the heads and while you are you at it might as replace items such as seals while you are there.

If the 82 sedan doesn't have SLS (not offered in 123 sedans in the US), you won't have an SLS pump. Can you transfer the 81 TD head to the 82 block?

SLS delete.
I know I'll get crucified for saying it (again) but you can replace the sls with w116 rear springs and Bilstein HD's.
I've done this on at least three cars, now, and the results have been great. Or you can swap the heads. Jay.

Nah, this is a tar and feathers group. Maybe a good keel hauling since you live near the coast
