Dash light
I had a 1982 300SD until one of the local idiots ran a stop sign and killed it and now I have a new to me 1983 300SD.A few slight changes but basically the same except when I go to start it all the lights come on that are supposed to and one green one also does.It is on the right side inline with the glow plug light and the seat belt light and goes off when the car starts but I really would appreciate if anyone can tell me what the heck that light is for! Thanks.

I know nothing about SDs but wouldn't the owner's manual explain such things? Ah, you don't have one? Well then . . .

I can go look in the owner's manual in my 83... brb.
... I don't see anything on the page where you are describing... perhaps someone disassembled your dash and put a bulb in the wrong spot? got a pic? can you give more detail on where this rouge green light is? , wait, is it UP above the speedo? like where the turn signal should be? my 82 lost the little arrow mask, and it looked like a green circle...

Sounds like this mystery light is in-line with the glow plug light and seat belt light. Do both of those lights function properly? Are as bright as they should be? Just wondering if a bulb got placed into the wrong socket - I konw on my 240D there are some holes that presumably bulbs would go into, but none do - so maybe someone replaced on in the wrong place. Why not push the instrument panel out and see what the deal is on the back. Take some pics and that might allow us to help out more.
